This activity is for participants taking part in the Cities of Learning study visit for Networking and Advocating.

This session is designed to facilitate focused, personal exchanges between participants about their respective organizations. Through structured "Pizza Dating" conversations, participants will gain insights into diverse approaches to youth work, organizational priorities, and methods for empowering young people's voices, aligning with the "Communicating Meaningfully", "Networking and Advocating", and "Displaying Intercultural Sensitivity"competence areas within the European Training Strategy (ETS) Competence Model for Youth Workers.

Why this Activity? (Deepening Connections & Organizational Insights)
Building on initial connections, "Pizza Dating" offers a concentrated way to delve into the specific contexts and challenges of each participant's organization. This format encourages active listening and targeted sharing, allowing for a deeper understanding of the varied landscapes of youth work across different localities. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn from peers' struggles and successes, identify potential synergies, and appreciate diverse operational realities.

Objectives of the Activity
  • To provide a structured opportunity for participants to share key information about their organisations in a concise manner.
  • To foster mutual understanding of organizational relationships with Cities of Learning, priorities for learners, and common struggles and strengths.
  • To exchange effective practices for empowering young people's voices and supporting democratic processes.
  • To understand diverse motivations for attending the study visit and individual desired outcomes.
  • To enhance skills in articulate sharing and empathetic listening, contributing to "Communicating Meaningfully".
  • To expand professional networks and identify areas for potential collaboration, supporting "Networking and Advocating".
  • To recognize and appreciate varied cultural and operational contexts in youth work, contributing to "Displaying Intercultural Sensitivity".

Instructions
1. Pair Up & Get Started
  • Participants will be asked to pair up (or form small trios, depending on numbers) with someone they haven't had an in-depth conversation with yet.
  • Each "date" will focus on a series of questions. Participants should take turns answering each question briefly and listen actively to their partner's responses.
2. Conversation Prompts (Discuss these during each "Date")
  • What is your relationship to Cities of Learning?
  • What is your priority for young people/adult learners in your locality?
  • What does your organization struggle with?
  • What does your organisation excel at?
  • How do you work with young people/learners having their voice heard?
  • How do you support young people/learners in a democratic process?
  • Why are you attending this study visit?
  • What do you want to get out of this study visit?
3. Rotate
After a set time (e.g., 5-7 minutes per "date"), participants will be prompted to rotate to a new partner, continuing the conversations with a new peer. The aim is to have multiple short, focused interactions.

Completion & Badge
By actively engaging in the "Pizza Dating" conversations, sharing insights about their organisations, and listening to their peers' experiences, participants will earn the "Organisational Insight Sharer" badge! This badge signifies active participation in deepening connections, fostering mutual understanding of diverse youth work contexts, and contributing to the "Communicating Meaningfully", "Networking and Advocating", and "Displaying Intercultural Sensitivity"competences as defined by the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers.
